Palau

north

Palau, on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia facing the National park of the Archipelago of La Maddalena, is a busy town with a good selection of shops, weekly market, restaurants and boat or sailing trips all around the amazing thirteen small islands of the archipelago La Maddalena.
It enjoys a strategic position and has an important modern touristic port which development is tied to the entire extended coastline sculpted by the wind that generates a wide variety of shapes and form in its rocks. The most famous one is a particular rock that looks like a big bear looking out on the sea.
On the opposite site of the town lies a famous seaside resort of Porto Rafael created at the beginning of the sixties by the Spanish earl Rafael Naville. The resort consists of different villas built in typical Mediterranean style which are in perfect harmony with the features of the area.
